David Henry Hwang Is Honoree of Inge Festival, April 18-21, 2012

David Henry Hwang, one of America's most dynamic and versatile playwrights, is the Honoree of the 31st Annual William Inge Theatre Festival, in Independence, Kansas, on the campus of Independence Community College. Hwang joins the roster of internationally renowned playwrights who have traveled to the Inge Festival to receive the William Inge Distinguished Achievement in the American Theatre Award. For more than three decades, this select list includes Arthur Miller, Stephen Sondheim, Edward Albee, Wendy Wasserstein, and the most recent Honoree, Marsha Norman. Read More

NEA Arts Work Grant Recognizes Inge Center as Rural Arts Leader

The National Endowment for the Arts announced that The Inge Center at ICC is recipient of a $50,000 Arts Works grant, the largest to any organization in Kansas and, in amount, in the top ten percent of all 119 grants awarded in the field of theater across the country. Read More

    A preview presentation of a new musical by Sheldon Harnick (co-creator of Fiddler on the Roof) opens the 30th Annual William Inge Theatre Festival on April 13, 2011. A Doctor in Spite of Himself is based on the play by Moliere. David Glenn Armstrong will direct the professional cast in a concert reading of this new musical, with music, books, and lyrics all by Sheldon Harnick, who will be present at the festival. Read More
