CALL FOR PAPERS
The
28th Annual William Inge Theatre Festival and Conference,
April 22-25, 2009
The
William Inge Theatre Festival and Conference is in its third
decade of honoring major living playwrights through a wide
range of performances, readings, seminars, workshops,
lectures, panel discussions and historical activities.
For four days each year, the small city of Independence,
Kansas, becomes the theatrical
center of the universe with visits from the greatest
playwrights, directors, actors and other theatre
practitioners, who all meet to honor a major playwright in a
playwright’s town.
Additional awards to a “New Voices” Playwright and a
Kansas Citizen of the Arts are also presented.
Next year’s festival will be held April 22-25, 2009.
We are
pleased to announce that for the 28th Annual
Festival we are honoring the work of the great American
musical theatre team of Tom Jones and Harvey Schmidt, best
known for “The Fantasticks,” “I Do!, I Do!,” “Celebration,”
and “110 in the Shade.”
