On Writing:

CSA-Confederate States of America: Screenwriter/Director Kevin Willmott discusses his acclaimed film and the creation of independent cinema. Sat.: 9:00AM.

Otis Guernsey New Voices Play Discussion: "Cradle of Man," by our Otis Guernsey New Voices Playwriting Award-Winner Melanie Marnich, is the subject of discussion with the writer and some of the collaborators. Fri.: 9:00AM.

The Playwright/Director Collaboration:  A lively discussion between working playwrights and directors on how different collaborations work and drawing the line between who does what. Includes Melanie Marnich, Jasson Minadakis and James Still. Sat.: 10:30 AM.

Playwriting Workshops:  Insights into the techniques and business of playwriting taught by working professionals including: Mickey Birnbaum (Screenwriting), Lee Blessing (Master Class), Marcia Cebulska (Playwriting for Dummies), Catherine Filloux (Political Theatre), Mary Hanes (Finding Ideas), David Hirson (Playwriting), Tina Howe (Master Class), Melanie Marnich (The Business of Playwriting), Jason Milligan (Writing Your Own Monologue), James Still (Playwriting), Colin Denby Swanson (Beginning Playwriting).  Spectators welcome and participants encouraged.  Thurs.: 9:00AM, 10:30 AM, 2:00 PM, 3:30 PM.  “Touched” Play Discussion – creating a play about William Inge:  Playwright Marcia Cebulska and her collaborators discuss the process of creating this world premiere play. Thurs.: 10:30 AM

“Cradle of  Man” Play Discussion:  Playwright Melanie Marnich, Director Jasson Minadakis and some of the actors discuss Marnich’s latest play. Fri.: 9:00 AM

Writing and Producing for TV: A career on the small screens taught by working professionals with Mary Hanes and Jason Milligan. Thurs.: 3:30 PM.

On Actors and Acting:

Acting Workshops:  Veteran stage and screen actors, Christopher Curry, Barbara Dana, John Herzog, Mary Portser, Patricia Randell, Blake Robbins and Elizabeth Wilson will provide hands-on instruction for actors who bring in scenes and monologues. Acting on Film:  Katherine Billings, veteran actress, director and contract film talent coach shares the secrets and techniques of acting on film. Thurs.: 2:00 PM, Fri.: 3:30 PM., Sat.: 1:30 PM.

Improv Workshop:  Veteran actor and ICC Fine Arts Chair Jon Sidoli, explores the wonderful world of Improv in this hands-on workshop. Thurs.: 10:30 AM

Movement Workshop:  New York Actress Amanda White explores the world of theatrical movement in this hands-on workshop, be prepared to create and move. Thurs.: 10:30 AM.

Musical Theatre Performance:  Hands on musical theatre performance workshops with Paul Baker, Broadway and TV actress, Kaitlin Hopkins and Obie-winning musical theatre performer and TV star Yvette Freeman.  Spectators welcome and participants encouraged to bring a song and sheet music they know well and would like to work on. Thurs.: 9:00AM. Fri.: 2:00 PM. Sat.: 10:30 AM.

Performing Shakespeare:  A hands on workshop for actors in how to breathe life and blood and guts into Shakespeare while making all the nuances of thought clear to the audience.  Participants should prepare a short Shakespeare Speech. Taught by award winning Actor/Director Robert Ellenstein.  Spectators welcome and participants encouraged. Thurs.: 2:00 PM., Sat.: 1:30 PM.

The Singing Actor’s Survival Guide with Broadway and TV actress, Kaitlin Hopkins. Everything you need to know to keep your voice healthy and create the stamina and life style to perform 8 shows a week for a long run. With question/answer session. Fri.: 2:00 PM

Voiceover workshop:  What makes a good voiceover? Do I have the right kind of voice? Alan Safier, one of the busiest voiceover actors in Hollywood, takes you through the ins and outs of the v/o trade. Participants will have the opportunity to read, be coached and record actual ad agency copy. Fri.: 3:30 PM

On Theatre in General and Show Business:

 “Based on a True Story” Actor-Writer Blake Robbins’ screenplay, now in pre-production, will get a reading from some of our special guest performers: Meagan Becker, Katherine Billings, Ricky Denning, Joseph Gomez, John Herzog, Kaitlin Hopkins, Blake Robbins, Jon Sidoli and Amanda White. Sat.: 3:00 PM

 

From Stage to Page: Luke Yankee will discuss the journey in creating his acclaimed one-man show, DIVA DISH and subsequent book, JUST OUTSIDE THE SPOTLIGHT, which will be released in May by Back Stage Books.  Topics include finding your voice to create your own one-person show, touring, booking agents, publishers, editors, rights and clearances. Sat.: 10:30 AM.

Making it in L.A.: Working L.A./Hollywood actors discuss the current state of Showbiz on the West Coast and how to seek work, find good training, keep in practice and make a living while waiting for the next job. Thurs.: 9:00AM.

Making it in New York: Working New York actors discuss the current state of Showbiz on the East Coast and how to seek work, find good training, keep in practice and make a living while waiting for the next job. Fri.: 9:00AM. 

Playwright-Director-Dramaturge Triangle: "Healthy Collaboration or Too Many Cooks":  Theatre Critic Dan Sullivan will moderate this open discussion featuring many of our playwrights and other special guests. Sat.: 3:00 PM.

On William Inge and the American Theatre:

All About Inge:  Inge Biographer, Ralph Voss, gives an informative talk on William Inge and on the unique Inge Collection, the largest collection of Inge material in the world.  Thurs.: 10:30 AM, 3:30 PM., Fri.: 9:00AM.  Sat.: 10:30 AM. Inge Collection, Academic Building Library.

Authors Autograph Sessions:  Many of this year’s guests have published plays. Author Tables will be set up for signings in the Fine Arts Building, Margaret Goheen Lobby. Sat.: 12:15 PM.  Public is welcome.

A Conversation with Past Playwright Honorees:  Past Playwright Honorees will informally discuss their lives and work in the American Theatre.  Fri. 10:30 AM-11:45, Inge Theatre, Fine Arts Bldg.  Day Pass required for admission.

The Inge Festival Legacy in Motion:  Mike Wood, the genius behind the Inge Festival's tributes to our great playwrights, and inaugural recipient of the Jerome Lawrence Award, describes and demonstrates how the Inge Center is using its unique video archives in a variety of ways to enhance research and educate future generations in the American Theatre.  Thurs.: 2:00 PM.

Reflections on Inge:  Inge’s family, scholars and admirers tell us about the man and reflect on his life, legacy and importance to the American theatre and America. Sat.: 9:00AM
